The Musée Yves Saint Laurent Marrakech and the Musée Yves Saint Laurent Paris are pleased to announce the opening of the exhibition Yves Saint Laurent : Line & Expression at the Orange County Museum of Art on July 3 2024.

The project, co-organised by the Musée Yves Saint Laurent Paris, the Musée Yves Saint Laurent Marrakech and the Orange County Museum of Art, is part of an active policy of developing off-site projects to promote the work of Yves Saint Laurent internationally.

The exhibition, curated by Olivier Saillard and Gaël Mamine, was presented at the Musée Yves Saint Laurent Marrakech from 4 March 2023 to 28 January 2024.

The scenography was designed by Claudia Huidobro.

Organised in four sections, the exhibition explores the genesis of Yves Saint Laurent's creations through a rich corpus of the couturier's preparatory graphic works, presenting original sketches, photographs, accessories and nearly 50 haute couture pieces dating from 1963 to 2001 from the collection of the Fondation Pierre Bergé - Yves Saint Laurent.

Drawn on paper in black ink or pencil, enhanced with colours that he knew so well how to combine and contrast, Yves Saint Laurent's sketches stand out from the fashion drawings of his contemporaries and constitute an artistic work in their own right.

"From haute couture to ready-to-wear to streetwear, fashion is constantly evolving. Yves Saint Laurent's work "redefines the idea of creative practice and defies categorisation (...) His impact is felt in all disciplines, beyond fashion, in the art world and in culture at large". Heidi Zuckerman, CEO and Director of the Orange County Museum of Art
