With Marc Jeanson and Estelle Zhong-Mengual

The plant world has always been a source of inspiration for artists, and Yves Saint Laurent himself would draw on a plant and ornamental lexicon that is part of a long creative tradition. What does this “nature” found in the designer’s garments and jewelry tell us? Botanist Marc Jeanson and art historian Estelle Zhong-Mengual will explore the complex, and at times ambiguous, representation of flowers in the couturier’s work.

Moderator:
Sarah Banon, PhD student in Political Science at Paris 8 University and professor at the Institut Français de la Mode. She is pursuing a doctoral thesis in political science at Paris 8 University–Vincennes Saint Denis.

The conference will be conducted in French.
