Fabric in bloom: a rendezvous with artificial flowers
A look at floral finery―The House of Lemarié

from to

In celebration of the European Artistic Crafts Days, the Musée Yves Saint Laurent Paris shines a light on the expertise behind the making of artificial flowers. This artistic profession took off in the eighteenth century and developed throughout the nineteenth century. In 1880, the House of Lemarié was founded, specializing in the art of featherwork, the making of fabric flowers and sewing. Today, it remains a trusted supplier for the biggest names in haute couture and luxury ready-to-wear.

In conjunction with the exhibition The Flowers of Yves Saint Laurent, a representative from the House of Lemarié will offer a demonstration of her refined craft and will discuss with us the expertise and material necessary to make flowers bloom forever.
