From Charles of the Ritz to E.R. Squibb

The haute couture house and the fragrances had been owned by the American group Charles of the Ritz since 1965. In 1972, Richard Salomon, the firm’s president, decided to sell to the pharmaceutical company E.R. Squibb. He convinced the company to sell the haute couture house to Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé.
