Collaboration with Claude Lalanne
Related to Fashion
At the end of the 1950s Yves Saint Laurent met the sculptor artists François-Xavier (1927-2008) and Claude Lalanne (1925-2019). With Pierre Bergé, he commissioned several works from them for their Parisian apartments.
Yves Saint Laurent works with Claude Lalanne on multiple occasions for his haute couture collections. For the autumn-winter 1969 collection, the couturier witnesses the moulding of the body parts for two of his mannequins.
Using the electroplating process, Claude Lalanne creates metal accessories, body jewellery with a very realistic rendering which are intended to embellish very simple muslin or crepe dresses. They continued their collaboration to create jewelry-sculptures and fanciful headpieces for different collections until 1983 (autumn-winter 1970, spring-summer 1971, spring-summer 1976, autumn-winter 1981 and spring-summer 1983).
