Meeting Andy Warhol
Related to Yves Saint Laurent, Pierre Bergé
Yves Saint Laurent and Pierre Bergé met Andy Warhol in 1968 and soon became friends. In the fall of 1970, while filming Love, Andy Warhol stayed two weeks in Paris, during which time he would often see the couturier, whom he considered “the most important French artist.” Despite both being shy, both Warhol and Saint Laurent greatly influenced their era, each in his own way, while remaining in close contact artistically and as friends.
In 1972, Warhol painted a series of portraits of Saint Laurent. He later made portraits of the couturier’s bulldog Moujik in 1986.
He was a complete artist. Not just a painter, but an artist. His films, his posters, everything was about generosity. And madness. You certainly cannot be an artist without being a little bit crazy…
