The Neiman Marcus Award

Yves Saint Laurent received the Neiman Marcus Award, a prestigious annual prize given to important figures in fashion by the American luxury department store. The first person to win this award in 1947 was none other than the man who had trained him: Christian Dior.

Rereading the letter, I discovered that the Oscar, which had been created during the war, would for the first time be awarded to a French couturier and that I was going to receive this accolade as early as my first collection! … What was being recognized was the awakening of French fashion. It was my duty to represent my country on such an honorable occasion, confirming the preeminent place of Paris in this domain.
